I help product and executive teams turn research into innovation through human-centered design. In 1995, I invented a CMS called Parla’ (licensed to Reuters and other businesses). I led the effort to transition Reuters’ financial trading platforms online (ReutersWeb). These early successes led to my role as a founding employee at Telocity, a pioneering broadband ADSL provider. There, I influenced core product strategy by developing POCs, streamlining OSS integration and customer signup, and building media and customer service portals. The company was later acquired by DirecTV for $180 million, a key milestone in my product journey.
I consult across industries. At Schwab, I led research for two Innovation Accelerator projects, identifying new growth opportunities. For Merck, I helped a senior research team adopt new methodologies for a chronic illness research project, part of a larger digital transformation initiative. I’ve also worked with the Wharton MBA Program and the Project Management Institute (PMI), conducting UX research, persona development, and stakeholder alignment. At Indeed, I focused on enterprise UX research for job budget allocation, and at Genentech I researched a regulatory compliance app for the Sunshine Act. I also conducted foundational research and design work that helped shape Comcast’s Xfinity video products, including one that later won a Technology & Engineering Emmy® and the CTAM Mark Award (Silver).
Beyond corporate projects, I’m committed to social causes. I co-founded the Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit that has directed over $300M in donated professional services to the social sector. I continue to take on socially beneficial projects, including mentoring UX professionals through UXPA and serving on the Montgomery County Children and Youth Services Citizens Advisory Board. Additionally, I’ve been a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters and founded a popular online artists’ community in the early days of the Internet.
I’ve recently expanded my expertise in AI and machine learning through MIT Professional Education’s Applied Data Science: AI for Decision-Making certificate. I combine deep experience with emerging technologies to help teams drive innovation, particularly for tech startups using AI/ML to create socially beneficial products.
